‘I am going to ask you to trust me,’ U.S. Third Congressional candidate Teresa Leger Fernandez told a crowd gathered Sunday afternoon at the home of Los Alamos residents Kyle and Michael Wheeler. Being an elected official, she explained, is a matter of trust. ‘I want to protect what we love,’ she said, adding that right now profit, and power seem to be held in higher regard over people and the planet’s health. Michael Wheeler and his wife, Kyle introduce CD3 candidate Teresa Leger Fernandez during a fundraiser at their home Sunday in Los Alamos. Kyle told the Los Alamos Daily Post that one of the reasons she was interested in hosting a fundraiser for Leger Fernandez was because the candidate is endorsed by Emily’s List, an organization that focuses on supporting women candidates who are pro-choice. Kyle explained she has been a long-time member of Emily’s List. ‘I do think she has a great chance of being elected … she has deep roots in New Mexico and she has a great position on issues that matter,’ Kyle said.
