Scenes From County Drone Mapping Trinity Drive

Los Alamos County’s Geographical Informational System (GIS) staff manuever a drone Friday at 36th Street and Trinity Drive. County Engineer Eric Martinez said staff were mapping Trinity Drive as a result of a recommendation made during the Jan. 3 Transportation Board meeting. It was recommended that County staff look into a potential option of a ‘road diet’ or modifying Trinity from Oppenheimer to Los Alamos Medical Center so the road could turn into two lanes, one in each direction, and create a middle turn lane or ‘suicide lane.’ Martinez said it will probably be in April when the County returns to the Transportation Board with the findings on this option. Modifying this section of the road is being dicussed because a housing project, the Hill Apartments, will be constructued on a parcel of land at 35th and 36th streets along Trinity Drive.
