Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Los Alamos gathered for a safe Palm Sunday Procession today traveling in vehicles through Los Alamos and ending at Sombrillo.

Participants held signs and shared sounds of this holy season, marking the Holy Week leading up to Easter Sunday. The safe car procession through Los Alamos ended at Aspen Ridge care facility as the members greeted their oldest member, Joyce Eyster, who is 99 years young.

Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church Pastor Nicole Ferry shared the scripture,“Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it; and he sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road and others spread leafy branches that they had cut in the fields. Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting: ‘Hosanna!’ Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!” –Mark 11:1-11.

“No donkeys in sight; no colts available; six feet of social distancing and yet the community of Bethlehem Lutheran Church raised palm branches, shouted Hosanna, decorated cars, and honked car horns, through the town of Los Alamos this Palm Sunday as they began the journey of Holy Week toward Easter,” Pastor Ferry said. “What a glorious day! What a glorious beginning to such a significant week in the Christian faith.”
