COMMUNITY News:

The Lasses and Lads of Enchantment are warming up for their annual delivery of singing valentines. Several quartets from the chorus will be trekking throughout the community Feb. 14 to surprise loved ones, bosses, co-workers, and community members with impromptu performances.

Three Nice Guys, Note-able Whimsy, and additional quartets stand at the ready to provide sweet songs to individuals and groups both big and small. Last year, found one quartet at the home of someone who fell ill and was unable to receive the gift as a surprise at work. While the recipient was feeling a little “under the weather,” they were certain it resulted in a once-in-a-lifetime memory for the recipient.

David Daniel is a member of the quartet 3 Nice Guys, although it has not been confirmed if he is indeed one of the three or the notorious fourth unidentified member. “Delivering a singing valentine can be particularly rewarding for the quartet because of the personal connection to the recipient,” said Daniel. “It can be quite emotional!” Yes, the truth is out: such a heart-warming moment has caused tears for recipients and the occasional welling of the eyes of singers, although it has been reported as an allergy.

This time of year, it can be hard to find the perfect gift. Will the gift arrive on time, and will it be what you hoped for, too? Daniel believes a singing Valentine is the perfect gift for any person or group to whom you would like to express thanks, appreciation, devotion, or love. The cost is just fifty dollars, but the memory could easily last a lifetime.

Years past have found quartets singing for lunch at the senior center and to all within earshot at assisted living centers, teachers, and unsuspecting residents right on their front porch. “For me, the best experiences are singing to groups,” Daniel said. “I particularly remember delivering a singing valentine to the office staff at Los Alamos Middle School and then getting to sing to some students in class. “That was fun!”

To order your Valentine, call LALOE Board President John Baillie at 505.660.0484. You just need to have a name, address, and a few times for delivery. The songs are also delivered with a long-stemmed rose and your kind words. Baillie can also be emailed at jabaillie2@yahoo.com. Special arrangements can be made for Thursday, Feb. 13, as available.
