When making plans for the start of the New Year, why not add “save a life” to the list? Stop by the Los Alamos Community Blood Drive 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8 or 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9 at the First Baptist Church, 2200 Diamond Dr.
Become a hero by helping to restore blood supplies in New Mexico’s hospitals after the holiday season. The blood drive is sponsored by the Los Alamos Volunteer Association and hosted by the First Baptist Church.
Also, donors can make a convenient appointment to give blood at www.UnitedBloodServices.org or by calling 505.246.1457. With each donation, donors will have access to their personal Wellness Page, which includes cholesterol test results, blood pressure, pulse, weight and other factors that are important to monitor. Donors also will earn Hero Rewards points that can be redeemed for gifts from the online Hero Rewards store. All donors will be entered into a drawing for a $500 Visa gift card.
Volunteer blood donors must be at least 17 years or older (16 years with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Photo ID is required. Donors are encouraged to
eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water prior to donating.
