Santa Fe Ski Team Invites Public To Participate In Annual Ski Swap And Alpine Race Camp Dec. 6-8

 SKI News:

SANTA FE — It’s time to gear up for another season on the slopes!

The Santa Fe Ski Team is hosting their annual Ski Swap Fundraiser Nov. 15-16 at the Genoveva Chavez  Community Center (GCCC) in Santa Fe.

The Santa Fe Ski team invites the public to participate in the event by dropping off ski-related items to sell at the swap between 12-4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 15.

“Our annual ski swap is a great chance for us to participate in the community. There’s a lot of amazing deals available for both new and experienced skiers,” states Harvey Monroe, Santa Fe Ski Team President. “The swap always opens another exciting season and offers a chance for our coaches to inform the public about our Alpine Race and Master’s Program.”

The ski swap is the primary fundraiser for the Santa Fe Ski Team, a registered 501c3 that supports skiers with scholarships, equipment and a staff of qualified coaches throughout an extended ski season that runs mid-November to mid-March.

This year the Santa Fe Ski Team is excited to launch a designated Slalom Race Camp that will be spearheaded by former University of New Mexico Head Alpine Race Coach, Joe Downing. Teams from Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico will participate in this weekend-long camp Dec. 13-15, at Sipapu Ski Resort. The camp offers racers an opportunity to focus on essential skills early in the season.

The Santa Fe Ski Team trains at Sipapu Ski Resort. Sipapu is part of the largest ski area collective in the Southwest. The collective recently invested over $10 million dollars in mountain improvements and infrastructure across the region, including installing new quad chairlift in 2015. Improvements at Sipapu have offered the Santa Fe Ski Team access to over five miles of additional runs over challenging terrain. With a reputation for one of the longest ski seasons in the state and improved snow making capabilities, racers enjoy a dedicated training course and some of the longest gates training in New Mexico.
