SANTA FE OPERA GUILD News:

  • Paint, Plaster And Pixie Dust: The Magic Of Transformation

The Santa Fe Opera Guild is hosting a talk and theatrical makeup demonstration at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 14 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 107 West Barcelona Road in Santa Fe

Principal makeup artist, assistant wig master, and resident mask-maker Beckie Kravetz will give an illustrated talk about her career and a demonstration of her theatrical makeup artistry, transforming a member of the audience into a character from the operatic repertoire.

Kravetz was hired by the Santa Fe Opera to make masks for the 1987 production of Ariodante. That job introduced her to the mask-like character of operatic makeup, and she joined the fledgling Los Angeles Opera where she worked for two decades transforming Placido Domingo, Samuel Ramey, Rod Gilfry and many others into unforgettable operatic characters.

This event is free to guild members, and costs $10 for non-members. Reservations are not required.
