SANTA FE – Santa Fe Botanical Garden kicks off 2018 with a new educational series titled, Food for Thought.
This three-event series explores our relationship with the natural world and how plants impact our tastes, our thoughts and our stewardship of the world. Each event in the series combines a vibrant presentation and discussion alongside delectable food.
Upcoming: Sunday, Feb. 11 features Love is in the Air – an artisanal chocolate and wine tasting 3-5 p.m. at the Niman Fine Art Gallery. Ticket are $65/members and $75/non-members. Tickets are available at www.santafebotanicalgarden.org/events.
As the first of the Food for Thought educational series, Santa Fe Botanical Garden celebrates the sensuous pairing of chocolate and wine at the Love is in the Air event Feb. 11 at the Niman Gallery. Led by Master Chocolatier, Melanie Boudar, from Cacao Santa Fe participants will learn about the cacao tree – where it’s grown, the challenges farmers face growing cacao, how it’s harvested, and how the roasting step influences chocolate’s unique taste and texture.
The afternoon will conclude with a guided tasting of five unique chocolates from different origins along with five wines specifically chosen to pair with the chocolate offerings. Wine selection is provided by David Enright, wine aficionado from Arroyo Vino Wine Shop, and the wine and chocolate pairings will be introduced at the event by Julian Martinez, Arroyo Vino Restaurant Manager, and Melanie Boudar of Cacao of Santa Fe.
The Food for Thought series continues with events in March and April, both of which will include a seated dinner at local venues.
- March 29 is Shakespeare scholar John Andrews and Director Rachel Kelly discuss this season’s production of Shakespeare in the Garden
- April 19 is internationally-acclaimed author, Anne Hillerman, discusses her newly released book Cave of Bones
