SFAS News:

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter has announced that toda, April 30, all dogs over the age of 6 months will be fee waived, to celebrate National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day.

National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day is observed each year April 30. This day was created as a way to raise awareness for thousands of pets that are waiting for (and needing) adoption from the shelters.

“We are hoping this one-day special event will help the community find their next furry family member and help find homes for many of our homeless animals,” says Murad Kirdar, a spokesperson for the shelter.

Fee waived adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, a microchip, and up to date vaccines.

All potential adopters complete an in-person adoption counseling, per the shelters usual process. A city or county license fee will apply.

Santa Fe Animal Shelter will hold its fee waived adoption event 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., today at 100 Caja del Rio.

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter is celebrating 80 years of saving lives this year. Last year the shelter, which is an open-admission no-kill shelter, saved more than 5,000 animals.
