Rotary Hears Details Of Recreation Bond

Los Alamos Future PAC members, Tony Fox, left, and Darren Meadows discuss the 2017 recreation bond with the Rotary Club of Los Alamos Tuesday in the community room at the Los Alamos County Golf Course. Ballots for the rec bond election were mailed to voters Tuesday and ask whether to pursue a $20 million general obligation bond, which combined with $13.4 million in capital improvement project funds, will fund five CIP projects for the community: a recreation center, a multi-generational pool, a splash pad and improvements to the golf course and softball fields in White Rock. Fox said after attending 17 community meetings over the course of 18 months, he believes ‘there is a tremendous need in this community for recreation.’ The ballots are due back to the County Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m., May 23.
