Rockhound Geology Outing At Small Fry Prospect Mine

Patrick Rowe is leading an expedition to Small Fry Prospect Mine at 8 a.m., July 23.
 
Located just north of Española, this hotspot is brimming with beautiful fluorite specimens.Expect to find fluorescent deep purple fluorite, fluorescent iron patina, and intricate barite crystals. This outing is kid-friendly, so make sure to bring the whole family.
 
Participants will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Los Alamos Nature Center before carpooling to the site. To meet directly at the mine, plan to arrive by 10 a.m. onsite. Registration is required, and admission is $8/member or $10/non-member for individuals. Families can register for $16/PEEC member family and $20/non-member family.
