PURGATORY News:

The fifth in the Big Mountain Enduro mtb series brought 400 racers to Purgatory Resort Aug. 28-29 for two days of riding.

With more than 10,000 feet of downhill served in 6 stages, the grueling course pushed riders to their limits with a mix of lift-served and steep high country climbs.

Known for intense competition and close finishes, the BME series at Purgatory Resort did not disappoint. In the Women’s Pro category, Utah’s Kera Linn came in second place, with Essence Jasperse of Washington coming in third place by just seconds. Durango’s Fiona Dougherty finished fourth in the Women’s Pro, one split second behind third-place.

In the Men’s Pro category, Utah resident Cody Kelley finished just 16.6 seconds behind first-place Mitch Ropelato, also from Utah. Durango’s Alex Vidal finished lucky number 13.

Next up the BME heads to Brian Head Resort in Utah Sept. 18-19 for its sixth and final stop. Along with Purgatory, Brian Head is part of the Mountain Capital Partners collective of ski and bike resorts.
