U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham

From the Office of U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Michelle Lujan Grisham released the following statement regarding the FAA Reauthorization that passed the House by 393-13 Saturday:

“Maintaining a modern, safe, and reliable aviation system is a priority of mine, and passing a long-term reauthorization of the FAA is critical to ensure that high quality airport infrastructure, security improvements, and consumer protections are available to all Americans.

“This reauthorization is also an economic driver that benefits urban and rural New Mexicans alike. The continuation of the Airport Improvement Program has the potential to provide additional federal funding to Sunport’s ongoing projects to improve their air fields.

“While increasing funding for the Essential Air Service helps maintain commercial air service to smaller and rural communities across our state. Airports such as Clovis Municipal Airport, Grant County Airport, and Cavern City Air Terminal in Carlsbad depend on these funds to stay operational, serve their communities, and maintain jobs in the region.”
