STATE News:

ALBUQUERQUE — U.S. Rep. Melanie Stansbury (N.M.-01) met with local teens Tuesday to discuss youth development programs as she toured the construction site of the new Seligman Teen Center. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Central New Mexico is remodeling the Seligman Teen Center, which will serve up to 200 teenagers per day to provide a no-cost safe space for after-school and summer activities.

During her visit, Rep. Stansbury heard from local youth and highlighted her work to secure investments in youth development for communities across New Mexico. The funding Rep. Stansbury secured as part of the FY 2022 and FY 2023 budgets includes over $10 million and $18 million, respectively, to address the biggest challenges facing New Mexican communities.

Many of these investments are aimed at key student and family wraparound services, youth development programs led by the New Mexico Black Leadership Council, the construction of Albuquerque’s first Homeless Youth Center, and mobile school-based health centers.
