STATE News:
SANTA FE ― This afternoon the Senate unanimously passed House Bill 241, a bill that will permit teachers to use their contractually-allotted sick and personal leave without it negatively impacting their annual teacher evaluations. The bill will now be sent to Gov. Susana Martinez for action.
After the Senate’s vote, the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Jason Harper (R-Sandoval) said, “New Mexico’s teachers go above and beyond for children. They selflessly dedicate untold amounts of time both inside and outside the classroom to help our kids develop their minds and achieve their dreams. House Bill 241 is one way we can demonstrate our respect and appreciation for what they do.”
