The Los Alamos Nature Center is offering two brand new summer camps for kids just before they go back to school.
Registration is now open for PEEC Pathfinders and PEEC Trailblazers, which will run from Aug. 6-10 and 13-15. Campers can attend the camps for a full week, the half week, or both.
“Parents have been asking PEEC to expand our summer programs for years now. We’re excited to finally be able to offer nature play-based camps during a time when there’s not much else available in town,” PEEC’s Adventure Programs Manager Beth Cortright said.
PEEC Pathfinders is for children entering first to third grade and will be led by PEEC educators Sandra West and Denise Matthews. PEEC Trailblazers is for children entering fourth to sixth grade and will be taught by environmental educator Jessica Miller. In both camps, our environmental educators will lead their groups into canyons, atop mesas, and around mountains as they play, hike, and learn to love nature on the Pajarito Plateau.
“The kids will have a blast with friends as they build forts and fairy houses, go on scavenger hunts, find new places to explore in nature, and learn about our local plants and animals,” Cortright said.
Scholarships are available for both programs. Contact the nature center for details.
