Sen. Martin Heinrich
RCLC News:
The Regional Coalition of LANL Communities recently hosted a meeting in Santa Fe with U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich and representatives attended the Spring Energy Communities Alliance (ECA) meeting in Washington, DC.
The Regional Coalition met with U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich to discuss cleanup funding for LANL and thanked him for the letter he submitted along with U.S. Sen. Tom Udall and U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Lujan to Secretary Steven Chu urging him to include $255 million for LANL cleanup funding in the FY 2014 budget.
Last week, Taos City Councilor Andrew Gonzales and Los Alamos County Councilor Fran Berting attended the ECA meeting where they heard from key leaders at the DOE and received an update on President Obama’s proposed DOE budget.
“The Regional Coalition is working hard to get clean-up dollars to LANL because it is key to protecting people across Northern New Mexico,” said Santa Fe Mayor David Coss, Chairman of the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities. “We will continue to work closely with New Mexico’s Congressional Delegation to make sure that we have adequate funding for these important cleanup efforts and to play a role in securing a cleaner and safer New Mexico.”
