When David Bullock left his job at Los Alamos National Laboratory two years ago, he knew he wanted to change careers. After 35 years in the radiation protection field, he wanted to explore something new, he said. While working at Lowes, he met real estate broker Gabriele Heinz.
“We started talking and she asked me what I was doing at Lowes. She suggested getting a real estate license and coming to work for her,” Bullock said.
Bullock got his license around the first of the year and went to work for Heinz’s real estate firm, Enchanted Circle Homes and Realty. The business is centered in Angel Fire, but Bullock focuses on the Espanola Valley and Los Alamos. He’s a familiar face around Los Alamos.
“I do a lot of volunteering in town,” Bullock said.
He is currently vice-president of the American Legion Riders, an organization he helped to start and served as president last year. Bullock also serves as sergeant at arms for the local Legion Post and has been involved with Operation Wounded Warrior and served as a team captain for Relay for Life.
Bullock has two sons who attend Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School. Both boys are involved in Boy Scouts and Bullock is assistant scout master for Troop 22.
Bullock will hold his first open house in Los Alamos 12:30-4 p.m. today at 193 San Ildefonso on North Mesa. The $559,900 view home on 2.5 acres, which includes a casita in addition to the main house, is the sort of property that Enchanted Circle specializes in.
“New Mexico is 90 percent rural and Los Alamos is a small town surrounded by beautiful scenery and wilderness,” Bullock said.

Enchanted Circle is affiliated with the company United Country Real Estate which has been a national leader in the sale of rural property, land and estate listings for 30 years.
“What sets us apart as a company is that we market nationally to people who are interested in a rural lifestyle,” Bullock said. “We partner with wildlife organizations and other groups and market directly to their membership. For example, we have an area of the website devoted to mountain property. This kind of specialty marketing gets our properties in front of a lot of people in the U.S. and internationally.”
Bullock has been impressed with the support United Country offers its affiliates. He also enjoys working with the staff of Enchanted Circle, he said.

What started as a chance encounter has become a new career for Bullock. “I enjoy helping people realize their dreams,” he said.
