PURGATORY News:
DURANGO, Colo. — Purgatory Resort welcomes the 19th annual SkiBike Rally and the American SkiBike Association back to Durango, Feb. 26-27.
The two-day festival is a gathering for both experienced ski bikers and first-timers looking to give ski biking a try. From the all-day poker run and NASTAR competition to a group cruise ride and BBQ dinner, the SkiBike Rally is the ultimate celebration of the ski bike community.
“As the first resort to host the SkiBike Rally back in 2003, Purgatory has a long history working with the American SkiBike Association to grow the sport,” Purgatory General Manager Dave Rathbun said. “The Rally is a perfect event for Purgatory and Durango as a biking and mountain sports community. We are looking forward to another great weekend of friendly competition, good vibes and shared camaraderie.”
Ski biking is a fun and easy-to-learn way to enjoy the slopes for all ages and abilities. Ski biking provides a safe and low-impact alternative to skiing and snowboarding, making the sport accessible for both adaptive and non-adaptive participants.
“The American SkiBike Association continues to focus on access for all through events, education and promoting the sport of ski biking to customers and North American ski resorts,” said Chris Schuler vice-chair of the American SkiBike Association and owner of SkiByk. “We are thrilled to see ski bikers from all over show up and ride at Purgatory in support of ski biking!”
The American SkiBike Association will be onsite with a SkiBike exhibit to check out the latest gear. This event is free for season pass and ticket holders, and all ages are welcome. A lift ticket is required to participate.
