Road Closure Sunday for 19th Annual Kids Triathlon

The Los Alamos Recreation Division will be holding the 19th annual Kids Triathlon Sunday, Aug. 19.

The following road closure will be in effect: Canyon Road will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 15th Street to Central Avenue.

Canyon Road will reopen at 3 p.m. from 15th Street to Central Avenue.



National Weather Service Issues Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning until 11 p.m. for Los Alamos. Avoid flood areas.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has extended the Flash Flood Warning for:

  • Northwestern Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico
  • Extreme southeastern Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico
  • Northeastern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico
  • Northwestern Santa Fe County in north central New Mexico

Los Alamos Police captured a motorist suspected of knocking over a woman riding her bicycle and then fleeing the scene at about 9:45 a.m. today on N.M. 4.

Suspect Kyle Smith and a passenger are stopped by police on West Jemez Road following a hit and run accident involving a bicyclist.

Eastern Area 2 Concrete, Paving & Utility Project – Phase 1
Work continues on Myrtle between 9th Street and 15th Street. This section of Myrtle is closed to through traffic with flagging operations during the day and two-way traffic at night.

The work zone on Canyon Road will be extended to between NM502 to just south of Nugget.
