County Monitoring Weather Conditions … No Changes For Facilities Or Services Yet

COUNTY News:

Update 6:15 a.m.: The Chamber of Commerce breakfast set for 7:30 this morning featuring County Manager Harry Burgess with a recap of 2019 has been canceled due to the UNM-LA delayed opening. LANL and Schools are on delayed opening.

No changes for County facilities or services at this point; however, the current forecast for snow indicates the storm that had been expected overnight may now begin moving in from the south to arrive in Los Alamos around 10 a.m. today.

Snow and Ice crews in the County Traffic Division are monitoring the situation to keep local roads safe today.

NWS News:

The National Weather Service forecasts a winter storm arriving later tonight, bringing a wide variety of precipitation.

Snow levels will be low during the morning hours, but rise by early afternoon.

The highest snow accumulations will be found above 7,500 feet, and areas of freezing rain remain possible across the eastern plains during the morning and again at night.

New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible during the day and after 11 p.m. another 1 to 3 inches.

CLOUDCROFT — The New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was contacted to investigate a police shooting Dec. 28, 2019 involving the Otero County Sheriff’s Office and New Mexico Game and Fish.

State Police agents learned that around 7:30 p.m., the Otero County Sheriff’s Office and NM Game and Fish responded to a domestic violence incident at 55 West Side Road in Cloudcroft.
