Senior Appreciation Night Planning Meeting March 12

COUNTY News:

Planning meetings for the 2020 Senior Appreciation Night (SAN) Los Alamos High School graduation take place 1–2 p.m., the second Thursday of each month, March through June in the Walkup Aquatic Center Training Room.

The next meeting is Thursday, March 12.

Individuals and volunteers interested in helping to plan a safe, fun-filled, drug free, all-night celebration are invited to attend the SAN Planning meetings or sign-up to volunteer during the events.

Crack Sealing On San Ildefonso Road Begins March 9

Traffic Alert:

Los Alamos County Public Works Traffic & Streets Division will begin a pavement preservation project on the North Mesa.

Crews will be crack sealing on San Ildefonso Road from the round-a-bout to Sioux Street.

Work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Work is anticipated to be completed in early April, weather permitting.

A flagging operation will be used to move vehicles safely through the work zone. Vehicle traffic is urged to slow down and obey all traffic control devices.

State Police Arrest Man For Kidnapping Woman In Rio Arriba

RIO ARRIBA COUNTY — Feb. 29, 2020, the New Mexico State Police Investigation Bureau was called to investigate a kidnapping that occurred in Española. 

At approximately 2 a.m., State Police Uniform officers responded to the Okay Owingeh Police Department in reference to a female who reported she had been kidnapped in Española.

During the investigation, agents learned the female was kidnapped at gunpoint and forced into the front passenger seat of a vehicle off of Taos Lane. Agents identified Brenton Rael, 44, of Petaca as the suspect who kidnapped the female.
