Experienced Volunteer Ground Personnel Invited to Join Search for Firefighter in Jemez

NMSP News:

New Mexico State Police is heading up a Search and Rescue (SAR) effort in the Santa Fe Nat’l Forest near Jemez Springs to locate a firefighter, Token Adams, who went missing Friday while conducting size up for a new start in the forest. 

Volunteer SAR is proceeding, and experienced volunteer ground personnel are invited to join in this effort. 

Directions to the ICP are:

  • Head west on Rt. 4
  • Turn right onto 126
  • Turn left onto NF-376
  • Turn left onto NF-604
  • Turn right onto School House Mesa/604
  • Turn left onto Cebollita Springs NF-606 Look for a big clearing with emergency vehicles

The south eastbound lane on Trinity Drive will be closed between Knecht and DP Road starting Tuesday, Sept. 3. Expect congestion and plan for delays, especially during the evening commute. Alternate routes are recommended. This work will continue through November 2013.

With respect to the recent letter “Should Los Alamos Police Unionize?” (Los Alamos Daily Post Aug. 30, 2013) there are a lot of concerns raised.
However when I looked at the salaries of the commanders listed, there seems to be an error. The actual salaries were already at $78,808 in 2012 as listed by the Rio Grande Foundation: ( and would now apparently be 10 percent or more above that number or about $86K per commander.

Locally Heavy Rainfall & Flash Flooding Threat Labor Day Weekend

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque would like to provide you with an update on the forecast of locally heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding this Labor Day Weekend. 
Due to a high pressure center aloft over our area, storms will be moving very slowly. In addition, a backdoor cold front will usher additional moisture into northeast portions of the state on Sunday then continue westward Sunday night into Monday beyond the central mountain chain.

The following statement was issued to the media today from Los Alamos County Clerk Sharon Stover:

“Late this morning, Los Alamos County received a complete package of documentation regarding a recent lawsuit filed against Los Alamos County and related order from First Judicial District Court Judge Sheri Raphaelson for the Clerk’s office to begin issuing same-sex marriage licenses.

Judge Rafaelson’s order stated that I should begin issuing the licenses or appear before her in court on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.

Statewide Lockdown of Jails Underway
