DPLA Meeting Tonight – HB33 Speakers & Discussion

DPLA News:

The Democratic Party of Los Alamos County will hold it’s monthly meeting tonight.

In addition to a brief business meeting, Los Alamos School Board Members Andrea Cunningham and Bill Hargraves will discuss Los Alamos Public Schools Referendum (House Bill 33).

All registered voters in Los Alamos County should have received their mail in ballot last week. This is an important election for children and community – make sure your voice is heard.  

Today’s meeting is 7 p.m. at UNM-LA in Building 05, Jeannette Wallace Room.

Letter To The Editor: Gun Violence? We Are Fighting The Wrong War

We are entering another legislative session and at least one gun control bill will be introduced. Such bills will treat the symptoms, gun violence, rather than the diseases. Gun violence is driven by deeper issues, namely our failed wars on drugs and poverty and our addiction to a culture of violence.

DEA Statement On Capture Of El Chapo Guzman

Captured drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman-Loera

DEA News:

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued the following statement today regarding the capture of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman-Loera. El Chapo, 57, is a Mexican drug lord who heads the Sinaloa Cartel, a criminal organization named after the Mexican Pacific coast state of Sinaloa where it was formed. He has been on the lam since his escape in July through a tunnel from a prison in Mexico.

DHS Will Accept New Mexico Driver’s Licenses For Boarding Commercial Air Flights Until January 2018

STATE News:

SANTA FE – Senate President Pro Tem Mary K. Papen, D-38-Doña Ana, Senate Majority Leader Michael Sanchez, D-29-Bernalillo & Valencia and House Minority Leader Brian Egolf, D-47-Santa Fe today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will continue to accept New Mexico driver’s licenses for boarding commercial air flights until January 2018.
