Public Meetings Set to View Teen Center Conceptual Floor Plans, Exterior Renderings and Site Plans

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is hosting two public information meetings Wednesday, April 16 to reveal conceptual floor plans, exterior renderings and site plans for the new Los Alamos Teen Center:

3-5 p.m. for teens – at the current Teen Center in the lower level of the Trinity On the Hill Episcopal Church; and

5:30-7 p.m. for resident – at the Community Building, 20th and Central Avenue (future Teen Center site) to update residents on the design of the new Los Alamos Teen Center.

The same material will be presented at each meeting.

The design for the new Teen Center is underway and the estimated construction completion set for August 2015. The Teen Center will be in the Community Building, utilizing vacated space now that the County tenants have moved to the Municipal Building. NCA Architects is the architect of record and will be presenting concepts for review and evaluation.

The County Council approved $4.2 million in funding in FY13 to design and remodel the Community Building for use as a Teen Center. The remaining tenants at the Community Building (US Forest Service, New Mexico Extension Service, Youth Activity Center and PAC-8) are to remain in their current locations.

Soon after the April 16 public meetings, information presented at those meetings will be posted to the County’s projects webpage at www.losalamosnm.us – link to Projects/Teen Center. Residents also can sign up for a newsletter for periodic project updates.
