The public is encouraged to bring their drones out to Fuller Lodge Lawn 11:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13 during ScienceFest Discovery Day for an opportunity to fly in a competitive drone course and have a chance to win up to $150 in Chamber checks, good at dozens of businesses and restaurants in Los Alamos and White Rock.
Two courses will be available to the public, a Beginner and Advanced, and four prizes awarded. Due to FAA regulations, participants must have proof of drone registration for any drone weighing over .55 lb. Advanced sign-up to participate is not required; participants simply bring their drone to the Drone Zone tent at Fuller Lodge Lawn and will be given a timeslot to compete. Winners will be announced beginning at 2:30 p.m.
Several drone models will also be on display near the ScienceFest Drone Zone.
