Posts From The Road: Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve

‘Posts from the Road’ is a new feature appearing in the Sunday edition of the Los Alamos Daily Post. Longtime Los Alamos photographer Gary Warren and his wife Marilyn are traveling around the country and he is sharing scenes they encounter while on the road. Today’s submission features Poppy Fields: Colorful orange poppies blanket the hills earlier this spring at the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve near Lancaster, Calif. A wet winter and spring created abundant flowers and colorful blooms throughout the southwest this year. Photo by Gary Warren/ladailypost.com

Poppy Hillside: Unusually rainy weather created a super bloom season in California this spring. The poppy reserve north of Los Angeles sported hillsides of thick, orange poppy blooms. Photo by Gary Warren/ladailypost.com

Colorful Landscape: The fields of orange poppies were the star of the show, but many other colors were prevalent throughout the poppy reserve earlier this spring near Lancaster, Calif. Photo by Gary Warren/ladailypost.com
