- “This photograph makes the most of the foggy conditions we had in early October by capturing the fog nestled in a canyon with the tree tops poking through.”
- “I love the trees peeking through the mist. It’s a nice look with the mesa’s in the background.”
- “This image is a fresh (for me) view of one of the most popular photography locations near Los Alamos. The ponderosa pines poking out of the fog really grab me.”
About the Daily Postcard Photography Contest:
Los Alamos residents Robert and Ann Wells enjoyed seeing all the photographs published in the Post by local residents. To encourage residents to submit their best photos, they established a fund in 2017 at the Los Alamos Arts Council with the purpose of awarding a $100 prize to the photographer who submits the best photograph of the quarter published as a Daily Postcard in the Los Alamos Daily Post newspaper.
“We have been impressed by the steady development of the Los Alamos Daily Post as a comprehensive community news source and have especially enjoyed the variety of photos submitted for publication by local citizens. The photo prize hopefully will motivate even more variety of photos and provide recognition for local photographers, which may be of particular benefit to those considering professional careers,” Robert Wells said at the time.
The judges for this fourth quarter 2022 award are Ken Hanson, Don Taylor and Martin Cooper.
Local photographers are encouraged to submit photos for consideration to caclark@ladailypost.com.
