Police Operation Targets Porch Package Thieves

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department Investigations Unit is conducting covert operations this holiday season as a proactive measure against package theft from citizen’s front porches. 

“We want to be proactive this season to deter and possibly catch any would-be thieves who target packages left at Los Alamos residences,” Cmdr. Oliver Morris said.

As the increase in online shopping continues each year, the draw toward a trend tagged as “Porch Pirates” also increases, he said.

The Los Alamos Police Department also wants to encourage citizens who believe they have had a package stolen to contact LAPD dispatch at 505.662.8222 to report the thefts. Any suspicious behavior observed by citizens also should be reported to dispatch.
