The Los Alamos Police Department is hosting its annual Drug Take Back Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the following locations:
- Smith’s Marketplace parking lot at 751 Trinity Dr.; and
- White Rock Visitor Center at 115 N.M. 4.
This drug diversion program is a part of a national initiative by the DEA. The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
Health & Safety Day
The Los Alamos Police Department also will particiapte in the Health & Safety Day 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., May 7 at Los Alamos High School. LAPD will host a booth and collect unused or unwanted prescription medications and hand out important safety items and information including:
- Gun safety locks;
- Code Red notification information;
- Public safety information handouts; and
- Answer general questions from the public.
The Los Alamos Police Department also will be taking registration forms at this event for this summer’s Safety Town program for the 2016 fall incoming kindergarten students.
