Police Chief Speaks at ‘Lunch with a Leader’ July 15

The League of Women Voters will host “Lunch with a Leader,” 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m., July 15 at Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos. The public is invited.
 
Los Alamos Police Chief Chief Dino Sgambellone is the featured speaker. Sgambellone will share his impressions of the department and what he envisions for law enforcement in Los Alamos. A question-and-answer session will follow the talk.
 
Sgambellone began his career with the Mansfield, Ohio Police Deprtment in 1991. He served in numerous capacities within the department including Patrol, Community Policing, SWAT and Field Training. He also served as the section commander for Special Investigations, project director for METRICH, a 10-county decentralized task force in North Central Ohio and police chief.
 
Sgambellone retired from the Mansfield Police Department early in 2013, and he and his family moved to Los Alamos after he accepted the position as chief of the Los Alamos Police Department in November 2013. 
 
Sgambellone served with the United States Air Force 19871990, where he received an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Security. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Business and completed his Ph.D. in Public Safety with Criminal Justice Specialization in 2011.
