COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities has scheduled a 30-minute power outage at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 that will affect approximately 300 customers at the east end of North Mesa.

DPU linemen will be moving and making new electrical connections along Cheyenne and Sioux streets in support of an underground residential distribution (URD) replacement project in Tsikumu Village.

Customers affected by the brief outage are east of San Ildefonso Road beginning at Cheyenne and including all of Tsikumu Village, Big Rock Loop, San Ildefonso, Cedro and Stoneview. Also affected are customers on Capulin, Alamo, Tsankawi and Oro.

DPU recently completed construction of the new three phase power line and single phase power line to Tsikumu Village. Transferring sections of the Tsikumu residential area to the new three phase power line require a full power shutdown to allow linemen to move physical electrical connections safely.

The Tsikumu URD replacement project was prioritized in DPU’s Electric Reliability Plan and budgeted at $450,000.
