COMMUNITY News:

Congratulations to Ryan Worley, winner of this year’s Los Alamos CROP Hunger Walk and Turkey Trot logo contest!

Ryan Worley

Worley is a 6th grader at Pinon Elementary School who really enjoys climbing the rock wall at the YMCA among other hobbies, including baking decadent desserts, writing scary stories, and reading.

His unique design depicts people walking a CROP Hunger Walk on one side of the Earth with people walking with water jugs on their heads to gather water on the other side. When asked why he chose to draw that logo, Worley said the “We Walk Because They Walk” CROP Hunger Walk tagline gave him the idea.

Another interesting and fun fact is that Worley’s older sister, Sarah, won the logo contest in 2012. Worley and his family have been walking the Los Alamos CROP hunger Walk and Turkey Trot ever since before he can even remember.

In this year’s contest, judges selected Grace Patterson in second place, Sophia Buckman in third and Elise Ovaska in fourth.

The Los Alamos Crop Hunger Walk and Turkey Trot event is Sunday, Nov. 22 at Los Alamos Middle School. Registration is 1-1:45 p.m. at Los Alamos Middle School Gymnasium with the walk/fun run starting at 2 p.m.
