LAPS News:

The Eighth Annual Pinon Elementary Pumpkin Patch and the Annual Chamisa Elementary Arts and Craft Fair is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 at Pinon Elementary, 90 Grand Canyon Dr. in White Rock. It has become a huge White Rock fall festival.

The Pumpkin Patch has lots of new and exciting events this year, organizers said. In addition to all the pumpkins for sale, there will be a rock wall for the kids to climb, a Hay Maze three bales high, rubber duck races, a cardboard “alpine slide,” angry birds catapult, hair painting, face painting, nail painting, crafts for kids to make, carnival games for kids to play, and prizes to win in addition to a bounce house and slide.

Something really fun this year is the addition of a cake walk noon to 2 p.m. with the Hill Stomper Band providing the music. Time Out Pizza and Chuck’s Wagon food cart will provide food to eat, in addition to snow cones and there will be a  joint Pinon/Chamisa Bake Sale. The Los Alamos Co+op Market will be in attendance to discuss healthy pumpkin recipes, and snack ideas.

Another addition to this year’s event is four new “face in the hole” photo props for folks of all ages to be photographed as different characters … cameras are welcome.

The Chamisa Arts and Craft Fair will have so much variety available, including jewelry, arts and crafts and clothes from local vendors that it’s possible to take care of holiday shopping while enjoying a fun-filled family day.

All the profits from the event go to each school’s Parent-Teacher Organization.
