COMMUNITY News:

Pinion Elementary School second grader Daisy McCulloch and her classmates are collecting donations of pet treats to benefit the Los Alamos Animal Shelter.

Teacher Kati Steinberg asked her 2nd graders what they could do to help make the world a better place. McCulloch and her classmates decided that they wanted to help the animal shelter.

“Two of my pets are from the shelter, and it is important to help animals that don’t have a home,” she said. “My class decided that even though we are kids, we can make the world a better place by being kind to animals.”

The class is asking for donations of pet treats or food in unopened containers. Monetary donations also are gratefully accepted – proceeds go to the animal shelter. GoFundMe link: https://gf.me/u/y838hs

Items can be dropped off at a collection box through Nov. 31 at 341 Potrillo Dr. in White Rock.
