At 7 p.m., Jan. 10, the Pig + Fig Cafe in White Rock will host a wine tasting dinner with exclusive pairings from Tablas Creek Vineyard (http://www.tablascreek.com/), an organic estate vineyard on a 1,600-foot elevation site in the Paso Robles Wine Country in California.
The Pig + Fig at 35 Rover Blvd. specializes in gourmet comfort food and traditional French style desserts.
Chef Laura Crucet Hamilton is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France, where she studied cuisine, pastry, bakery, wine and restaurant operations. She is the co-author of several cookbooks. While working at Houston’s acclaimed Rainbow Lodge she was nominated three times as the Best Pastry Chef in Houston.
Then in 2004, when she was working as the Executive Pastry Chef at Vic and Anthony’s, she was once again nominated as the Best Pastry Chef in Houston. She taught cooking classes at Sur La Table, Brennan’s and throughout the Southwest. She is the creator of many of the sweet and savory dishes that are served at Pajarito Brewpub and Grille.
Tablas Creek Vineyard was recently ranked #2 on the 101 Best Wineries in America in 2016 by the Daily Meal and they were reviewed in Antonio Alloni’s Vinous. Reviewer Josh Reynolds wrote, “The style continues to push toward greater finesse, which is no easy feat in this hot region, but winemaker Neil Collins and his team have proven more than able to pull it off with impressive consistency.” The chalky clay soils of Tablas Creek Vineyard and its climate are similar to the Rhone Valley in France.
Since opening the Pig + Fig Feb. 25, 2016, Hamilton’s Beer and Wine dinners have consistently sold out before the events are announced to the general public. That’s because the Pig + Fig has a loyal customer base that has subscribed to their newsletter. Hamilton always announces her special events to her subscribers first.
Tickets to the Tablas Creek Vineyard wine dinner will be offered to Hamilton’s subcribers on her list first.
Anyone interested in getting tickets to this exclusive event before it sells out should subscribe to the list at www.pigandfigcafe.com.
