SHELTER NEWS:

Sierra and Peewee are eight-year-old spayed female Jack Russell Terriers. They came from a rescue after they were badly attacked in their own home by two larger dogs in the home.

They are recovering from their injuries and are responding very nicely to attention from shelter staff and volunteers. They would like to be adopted together into a quiet home. They are good with adults and older, quiet, gentle children. A gentle dog might be okay with them also.

The Los Alamos Animal Shelter and Friends of the Shelter would like to thank Los Alamos residents for shopping locally and adopting locally. For the month of January, any Los Alamos resident who adopts one of the animals received during 2013 will be given one chance at a raffle for a $50 gift certificate to Pet Pangea or a $50 gift certificate to Smith’s Food and Drug.

The Los Alamos Animal Shelter, 226 East Road, 505.662.8179, has a great selection of adoptable pets – see the Petfinder website for photos at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/friendsoftheshelter.html

For information about volunteering, adopting and donating, and learning more about special needs animals and cats and dogs in foster care, visit www.lafos.org. All adoptable pets are micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Shelter Hours: Noon-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends.
