Pets Of The Week: Mary And Jack

This little midnight marvel is Mary, a wisp of night sky with a face so impossibly sweet it looks like someone sketched it with the softest pencil they could find. Curious, cuddly, pocket-sized magic, Mary is ready to go home and make all your wishes come true! Española Humane is open to walk-in adopters 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, at 108 Hamm Parkway in Española. Visit www.espanolahumane.org. Courtesy/EH

Some dogs are built like gazelles. Jack is built like a meatloaf… a very handsome meatloaf with ears that catch the breeze like little rumpled sails and a face that could talk you into sharing the last bite of your sandwich.

At 3 years old, Jack is the type of guy who lets friendship simmer instead of boil. Give him a moment, and suddenly you’ll have a devoted shadow padding behind you from room to room, convinced that wherever you are is the most interesting place anywhere. He’s a champion sniffer on walks, an Olympic level cuddler at home, and despite every law of physics, he firmly believes he was designed to fit perfectly in your lap. We see no reason to correct him.

Jack also enjoys the company of other dogs, making friends with an easygoing charm that’s just as lovable as those wind-catching ears. If your home has room for one oversized cuddlebug, one loyal sidekick, and approximately 62 pounds of affection disguised as a loaf of bread, Jack is ready to sail right into your heart.
