PEEC: Puppet Show And Community Picnic Sunday

Enjoy beautiful Cottonwoods, tour historic homes, take in views of the river, watch a bilingual puppet show and more this weekend at Los Luceros Historic Site.
 
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center, New Mexico Historic Sites and Amigos de Los Luceros are hosting a fun and free community event and picnic 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 as part of the Culture and Nature series they are partnering on.
 
The August picnic’s theme is “Spanish Colonial Life.” People of all ages can enjoy tours of Los Luceros property and Casa Grande, watch the puppet show by Cristina Masoliver and enjoy spending time along the beautiful river.
 
Families are invited to bring their own picnics and explore the property at their leisure and can come and go anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The tour of Los Luceros will begin at 11:30 a.m., the puppet show will begin at 1 p.m. and the tour of Casa Grande will start at 2 p.m. There is one more Culture and Nature event happening this year Sunday, Sept. 16, which will be an apple picking festival with live music, food trucks, vendors and more.
