Celebrate the arrival of fall at a moonlight hike and potluck dinner Sunday.
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center is hosting this outing, led by Jean Dewart of the Los Alamos Mountaineers. Enjoy good food, the company of others and time in nature at the end of the weekend. Registration is required for this event and only a few spots remain.
The potluck dinner starts at 5 p.m., at the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road. Attendees should bring a dish to share with the group and the nature center will provide cups, plates, water and utensils. After dinner, hikers will carpool to Cañada Bonita Trail at about 6 p.m. and hike about two miles, round-trip. The leaders plan to return by about 8:30 p.m. to the nature center.
Hikers should dress appropriately for the weather and bring layers, a hat and gloves. All hikers also should have a headlamp or flashlight. Advance registration is required to participate in this hike and admission is $8 per family or $4 per person for PEEC or Los Alamos Mountaineers members. Non-member rates are $10 per family and $5 per person.
