PEEC Invites Girl Scouts To Earn Badges Through Nature Adventures This Fall

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is excited to host a pair of engaging programs this fall for Girl Scouts to connect with the natural world and earn badges through hands-on adventures. Programs take place at the Los Alamos Nature Center, 2600 Canyon Road.

Daisy Girl Scout: Animal Observer
1–2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025

Calling all Daisies! Scouts in grades K–1 are invited to earn their Animal Observer badge during an afternoon of discovery with a PEEC educator. Activities include games, hands-on exploration, and a special meet-and-greet with one of PEEC’s live animal ambassadors. Participants will learn how to observe wildlife using their senses and leave with new skills, fun memories, and their badge in hand.

  • Cost: $10 per scout
  • Capacity: Limited to 25 scouts
  • What to Bring: Weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, water bottle, and a snack. One adult required per five scouts.

Cadette Girl Scout: Night Owl
7–8:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025 

Cadettes (grades 6–8) can join PEEC after dark to earn their Night Owl badge. This evening program includes a guided 1.25-mile hike through Acid Canyon, where scouts will explore the nocturnal world, learn about creatures of the night, and use their senses in new ways. Flashlights will be provided if needed. Each participant will receive the Night Owl badge at the end of the program.

  • Cost: $10 per scout
  • Capacity: Limited to 20 scouts
  • What to Bring: Weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy walking shoes, and a water bottle. One adult required per five scouts.
