Did you know that Wild Turkeys live in New Mexico? In Los Alamos County, they’re tricky to find, but have been spotted everywhere from White Rock Canyon to Bandelier National Monument.
Learn more about these birds and their conservation story in a talk at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 17 from the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC).
Patt Dorsey from the National Wild Turkey Federation will speak at this program. Attendees will learn what is unique about Wild Turkeys and explore their natural history and biology, find out where they live in Northern New Mexican and in what habitats you can find them, explore their conservations story and hear about how Wild Turkeys are managed today.
In addition to this program, be sure to tune in for Friday, Nov. 20’s astronomy talk about primordial black holes from Rick Wallace. Wallace will talk about the possible formation of tiny primordial black holes during the first few second of the Big Bang, a grapefruit-sized primordial black hole that has recently been suggested as a candidate for Planet 9 in our solar system, and more!
Both talks will be hosted on Zoom and registration is required at peecnature.org/events to receive the meeting link and password.
