PEEC News:

Learn about a local star Friday, Nov. 30 at the Los Alamos Nature Center’s planetarium at a presentation from Joyce Guzik called “Inside the Sun.”

Guzik’s presentation begins at 7 p.m. and explores why the sun shines, the possible fate of the sun and earth and much more. She guarantees that the audience will learn something about the sun that they didn’t know before.

In her talk, Guzik will discuss what generates energy inside the sun, how the sun was formed, what it is like underneath the surface and more. Audience members also will learn how it’s known what is going on inside the sun even though one cannot see beyond its surface.

In addition to the Friday evening discussion, the nature center is showing the full-dome film “Incoming!” at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1. Narrated by George Takei, this planetarium show explores asteroids, comets and the hard-hitting stories of cosmic origins.

Seating is limited for both the talk and movie, so call the nature center at 505.662.0460 or stop by to reserve tickets. Admission for both events is $6 for adults and $4 for kids. Events in the planetarium are not recommended for kids under age 4.
