Pedestrian Fatally Struck On Interstate 25 In Santa Fe County

NMSP News:

SANTA FE – At approximately 10:42 p.m., Saturday, July 10, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) investigated a pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle on Interstate 25, near milepost 268, south of Santa Fe.

The initial investigation indicates a 2012 Toyota Rav4 SUV, driven by a 58-year-old female was traveling north on Interstate 25. For reasons unknown a pedestrian, David Michael Ryan, 48, of Santa Fe, walked onto the roadway of Interstate 25 where he was struck by the Toyota.

Ryan sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.

The driver of the Toyota, and a 59-year-old female passenger in the vehicle were uninjured. 

Alcohol does not appear to a factor in the crash and seatbelts appear to have been properly used by both occupants in the Toyota.

The name of the driver and passenger will not be released due to no charges being filed. This crash remains under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
