Pearce On House Passed Appropriations Package

U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce

U.S. CONGRESSIONAL News:

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce supported the passage of H.R. 5895, which includes the Energy and Water Development, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Legislative Branch Appropriations bills for fiscal year 2019.

“Today, the House acted on one of its most essential functions – funding the federal government,” Pearce said. “Passage of these three bills start the indispensable role Congress has in determining how the American peoples’ tax dollars will be spent for the year to come.”

“H.R. 5895 guarantees vital funding for key projects and programs that take place in New Mexico,” Pearce continued. “This bill reiterates the leading role New Mexico plays in nuclear research and development by fully funding WIPP; as well as, increasing the role New Mexico’s two national security labs play in our nation’s nuclear weapons program.”

“The package also includes funding for construction and renovation projects at our State’s military installations and provides the resources needed for veterans to receive the care they deserve. In all, this bill supports New Mexico’s needs. By passing three bills today, the House is well on its way to doing its job. I look forward to working with my colleagues the next two months to finalize and pass the remaining appropriations bills for fiscal year 2019.”
