Pavement Preservation Project On US 285 To Start April 22

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE COUNTY — The New Mexico Department of Transportation District Five office will begin a nearly $6.3M pavement preservation project on US 285 between White Lakes and El Dorado on Wednesday, April 22.

This project, from milepost 270 to milepost 290.50 includes a novachip overlay on the existing asphalt, and re-striping of the roadway. A novachip overlay is a method in which an application of asphalt is applied over the existing surface. This process prolongs the lifespan of the road without full reconstruction.

Drivers can expect a single-lane closure with flagging operations throughout the duration of the project and working hours. Work will be performed between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Drivers are encouraged to plan accordingly and expect some delays. Motorists are reminded to use caution, observe all signs and detours, and to reduce their speed and watch for workers in the work zone.

The project contractor is Brasier Asphalt, and the project is expected to be complete by the end of June, weather permitting.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation is committed to the safety of the traveling public and appreciates motorists’ cooperation during this work. For updated information visit www.nmroads.com or call 511.
