Parenting Expert Returns To UNM-LA March 18

UNM-LA News:

The Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) and UNM-Los Alamos are pleased to announce that Barbara Coloroso will lead the next Parenting University workshop on Saturday, March 18 at the UNM-LA campus.

In this free workshop, Coloroso will speak about bullying and offer practical advice for breaking its cycle of violence and raising kids that treat others with dignity and respect. Participants will learn about the characteristics of bullying, techniques for teaching kids how to deal with bullies, how to hold bullies accountable, and how to parent children that are cyber-savvy, cyber-civil, and cyber-safe.

Coloroso, a widely-acclaimed author, consultant, and parenting expert, has appeared on Oprah, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and NPR and has been featured in the New York Times, Time, U.S. News & World Report, Newsweek, and other national and international publications. The author of five bestsellers, Coloroso’s book The Bully, The Bullied, and the Not-So-Innocent Bystander became a standard text on the topic when it was first published in 2010. A new and fully revised edition of this title will be available for purchase during the workshop.

Gabe Baca, UNM-LA Community Education Program Manager stated, “We are really excited that Barbara is able to participate in Parenting University again. Last spring, we had a full house for her presentation ofParenting with Wit and Wisdom. Since then, we have received many requests to bring Barbara back for a session on bullying. We anticipate another large crowd and a morning packed with useful, compassionate information on this important topic.”
