The Pajarito Brewpub & Grill has been selected as the New Mexico Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Success Client, and was honored and recognized at this year’s 16th Annual New Mexico Small Business Development Center Day at the New Mexico State Legislature.
The Pajarito Brewpub & Grill has quickly become a hotspot for Los Alamos and the surrounding communities of the Atomic City. The restaurant offers a great assortment of 30 world-class brews on tap and 45 bottled beers, as well as a menu ranging from burgers and fish and chips to steaks and other tasty items.
The owners of the Pajarito Brewpub & Grill are mother and son Cathy Mockler and Patrick Mockler-Wood and the husband and wife team of Pawel and Dorota Listwan. Patrick is a proud Los Alamos native whose dream of opening this restaurant was four years in the making. Pawel is a scientist at the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Dorota has previous restaurant management experience. Cathy Mockler has been the owner of the North Road Inn for 21 years. Patrick always makes a point to let everyone know that the restaurant would not have opened without the efforts of each member of the management team.
When the restaurant first opened, the owners were hoping for 100 customers a day and anticipated needing a staff of 16 employees. Since then, the restaurant has been so successful that it averages about 450 customers per day and employs a staff of 49.
Patrick gives credit to the Los Alamos SBDC for assistance with accounting, business planning, marketing and licensing. He states that the “SBDC’s help was invaluable in helping us in the early stages of starting our business.”
