New Mexico Governor Leading Taiwan Trade Mission

TAIPEI, Taiwan — New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham will lead a business and trade mission to Taiwan today, Sept. 17, to participate in U.S. Business Day and meet with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, Minister of Economic Affairs Wang Mei-hua and manufacturing companies interested in locating to the state.

We are deeply saddened to have lost Raymond C. Mjolsness on September 13, 2023. He was a fine theoretical physicist and applied mathematician, a patient mentor and insightful collaborator to colleagues, a longtime member of the Theoretical Division of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and an excellent trombone player.

Governor Appoints McCutcheon II To Dist. 42 Senate Seat

SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday appointed Steven McCutcheon II to the District 42 Senate seat.

McCutcheon is a native of Carlsbad, New Mexico. He served on the Eddy County Commission from 2018 to 2022. He is also a rancher and businessman.

He has been married to his wife, Lisa, for 12 years and they have 4 children.

The District 42 seat was vacated in August upon the retirement of Sen. Gay Kernan. McCutcheon’s term begins immediately and ends after the next general election. Read More

FBI: Torreon Man To Spend 4 Years In Prison For Assault

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, announced Thursday that Monty Joe Montoya, 43, of Torreon, and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, was sentenced to four years in prison.
