The heavy spring runoff continues this week. The major rivers like the Rio Grande, Rio Chama and Pecos are all running well-above normal, making fishing conditions difficult. 

Trout can still be .caught under these conditions. Fish the edges of the stream out of the main current. Bait, especially worms, is probably your best choice. Lures and flies should have some flash to them and need to be heavy enough to sink quickly.

As a long-time motor vehicle driver in Los Alamos County, you could never pay me enough to ride a bicycle in Los Alamos County.

The following are a variety of vehicular issues which affect bicycle safety:

  1. It is a poor driving decision to pull into an oncoming traffic lane in order to pass a bicycle.

BLM New Mexico Oil And Gas Lease Sale Nets $78,844,369

BLM News:

SANTA FE — The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office has conducted a lease sale offering 45 parcels totaling 10,123 acres within Cheyenne County, Kansas and Eddy, Lea, and Chaves counties in New Mexico, on public lands managed by the Roswell Field Office, Carlsbad Field Office and Oklahoma Field Office.

In total, 37 parcels totaling 8,596.25 acres sold for a total of $78,844,369.

NNSA Proposes Backup Power System For DARHT

NNSA News:

The U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) proposes to install a new battery bank to provide backup power to the Dual Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test (DARHT) facility in the event that maintenance is needed.

Triad proposes to install up to four 8-megawatt-hour (MWh) batteries approximately 100 yards from the main DARHT facility (total of 32 MWh).

Master Gardeners To Host Plant Sale During ChamberFest

The Master Gardeners are hosting a plant sale 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 3 during ChamberFest. The Master Gardeners offer this plant sale in order to provide an opportunity for the community to purchase plants that have been proven successful growing here in Los Alamos.
